 1)     Definition

Text that retells events in the past

2)     Purpose

Provide information about an incident to the reader, or entertain the reader

3)     Types

a)     Personal recount
These usually retell an event that the writer was personally involved in.

a)     Factual recount
Recording an incident, e.g. a science experiment, police report.

b)     Imaginative recount

Writing an imaginary role and giving details of events, e.g. A day in the life of a pirate; How I invented

4)     . Text structures

a)     Orientation, the first structure that contains information about the character, the scene, when the event took place and so on. The information provided by the author is expected to provide the knowledge or information needed by the reader in order to understand the storyline.

a)     Events, the second structure is the content of the text or in the form of stories about events or experiences that the author wants to convey to the reader.

b)     Reorientation, the third structure contains conclusions as well as summaries or repetition of information contained in the orientation structure

5)     Language Component

a)     Focus on individual people, such as by using personal participants, namely I or we.

b)     Using words that indicate when and where the incident or events occurred.

c)     Write using the past tense.

d)     Using action words as in the language feature.

Spending Time Together

Last week I went to the cinema. The cinema is inside the mall

I watched a movie with my friends, but my friends and I didn't know what movie to watch and I didn't even know the schedule of movies that would be shown in the cinema. And than , my friends and I took a look first if there is a good movie.

It turned out that there was a film that caught our attention, so we bought tickets and immediately went inside.After watching we went to eat because we were hungry

It was a fun day because I spent time with my friends
